I remember a solo gig that John did in ’77 or 78 at Nottingham University. We had been enjoying some lovely acoustic “stuff” but I was looking forward to the echoplex extravaganza. The crowd’s reaction when John unplugged a Jack-Plug and sent a cord flying around the room showed that most were waiting for the same. However the cheers and sound came crashing to a halt with John saying “Hold on ….hold on…hold on, has anyone got a Philips-head screwdriver.” The required item was quickly supplied by a member of the crew. There followed a few seconds of “twiddling” and off we went!
